Japanese Rice Candy

Japanese Rice Candy

Hey Young Chefs! I want to introduce you to one of my favorite treats - Japanese Rice Candy. Rice candy comes in a small box containing six candies. My favorite thing about Rice Candy is being able to eat the "wrapper." Actually, there is a real plastic wrapper around the candy. When you remove the plastic, you will see a sticky, chewy candy surrounded by a wrapper made of clear rice paper. The rice paper is crinkly at first and then it melts in your mouth.

It tastes kind of like orange with a hint of lemon. It's yummy and fun to eat. Once you eat the first one, you'll want to eat all of them! You can find Rice Candy at Cost Plus World Market or at your local Asian food market.

Just like Cracker Jacks, there's always a surprise inside the box. But I always like the candy better than the surprise! Yum! Yum!

Sayonara! See you next time. And remember, get creative in the kitchen!

Bon Appetit, Eliana
